Time is important - leading position with ProJob
"Saving 40,000 pounds a year in administration costs on these four factories is a considerable cash advantage we achieve by introducing ProMark" - Joergen Bilde, Danexport
During the next year, the four Danish factories in the Danexport Group will have introduced advanced data collection on the shop floor by means of ProMark.
Time is important if you wish to do well in the competition on the world market and the Danexport Group has no intention of willingly relinquishing their leading position in the line of animal by-products for the pet food industry and proteins and ingredients for the food industry.
At one of the group's locations in Graasten (southern Denmark) they are finalizing the implementation of the ProMark data collection system delivered by Mark Information in Lyngby, north of Copenhagen. The Mark Group specialises in time & attendance and job registration typically for production companies and deliver both the software and terminals to this end.
- Ultimately, it is a matter of securing improved grounds for survival amongst very tough competition where small margins are of great consequence and can be decisive as to whether we actually earn money or loose money on an order. However, under absolutely no circumstances will we compromise either quality or delivery deadlines - that would be like playing Russian roulette with the trust placed in us by our customers, says project manager Joergen Bilde, Danexport.
Once the implementation at the protein factory in southern Denmark is complete, it is Danexport's intention to rapidly move on to the next three production sites in Denmark, ensuring that ProMark is fully implemented in all four factories during the course of 2002.
Analysis tool
"Saving 40,000 pounds a year in administration costs on these four factories is a considerable cash advantage we achieve by introducing ProMark, but most important is the analytical tools we will have at hand in the future" says Joergen Bilde.
We will be able to follow the daily production practically by the hour and can take appropriate action if something is not suitable and the resource consumption does not stay within the expected scope. In other words, stop before expenses get out of hand.
Moreover, it will be easier for us to make estimates and budgets - and follow up on the budget. All in all and in the long run there is a lot to gain both competitionwise and profitwise .
With ProMark, daily production can virtually be followed by the hour.
Production at Danexport is divided into workcentres which are partly autonomous and typically consist of 3-4 employees. An order is defined and handled as a project, but some contract work for customers is also done.
All functions
All functions - production, meetings, cleaning etc. - are registered which gives us a "history log" we can use in future planning, explains Joergen Bilde.
Furthermore, payroll calculation and payment is a lot easier, as ProMark can contain all necessary data for elaboration of salary statements and also the entire local agreement.
ProMark also contains personal data on individual employee qualifications, education etc. This means that you can deploy your employees correctly and for specific tasks according to their qualifications. At the same time this data can be used when hiring new staff etc.
You can register the consumption of man-hours on a machine and sum it up with expenses for repairs and maintenance, so you have the grounds for evaluating the machine's condition.
Access control is another element in the ProMark system
The Mark Group specialises in data collection for time & attendance and job registration primarily for production companies as well as delivery of software and terminals for this end. Furthermore, the system can be extended with the implementation of access control, rostering and project registration.
The BHJ Group
The BHJ Group has its head office in Graasten in southern Denmark. During the next couple of years focus will be on creating growth and increased activity world-wide. A strategy plan, agreed upon a couple of years ago, is the basis for the expansion. The aim is not only to increase turnover but also to increase earnings.
As a part of this strategy plan, a number of large investments have been made in the three areas, where all the BHJ Group's activities have been consolidated: Protein Foods Division, Pet Food Division, and Food Division.
The aim is to improve Danexport's position both through internal growth and through the purchase of companies in each business area.
Through more than 30 years, BHJ has been a part of the international meat industry and is now operating all over the world through long-term and close co-operation relations to both suppliers and customers.
