Jutlanders focus on productivity
JAI is the latest in a long series of Jutland manufacturing companies who have purchased Mark Information’s software solution for collection of precise real-time data.
JAI (Jydsk Aluminium Industri) is the latest in a long series of Jutland manufacturing companies who have purchased Mark Information’s software solution for collection of precise real-time data. The company expects to save over 700,000 DKK a year by introducing the ProMark solution which collects and analyses data on employees, materials and machines.
Mark Information prospers in Jutland. In 2005 alone, the company obtained orders from 15 large Jutland manufacturing companies. And as the latest one, JAI has been added to the customer list.
These companies have realized the extensive savings obtainable when collecting real-time data on the shop floor. Often, employees register production data and their time & attendance on handwritten notes. By introducing electronic data collection, companies can get a correct data foundation which – and this is important - is based on real-time data. Important parameters when wishing to make production more agile and efficient.
- Merely by replacing pen and paper with the solution from Mark Information we can save 3 minutes per day per employee on the shop floor. That amounts to an annual saving of 400,000 DKK. To this should be added the productivity improvements we achieve and which mean that we become more competitive. We have invested 630,000 DKK in this solution but expect to save 720,000 DKK in administration already in the first year. So this is a good piece of business, says IT Manager Bjarne Møller from JAI. He continues, we expect clear improvements in our utilization of machines and other resources. Improvements which gives us even higher expectations than the administrative improvements, but which we cannot assess until a later stage.
Even for salaried staff
Absence due to illness is another area in which Mark Information’s solution can help optimize. JAI expects to save the equivalent of two standard employees on that score. Employees who may be used for more sensible purposes than entering handwritten notes into the business system.
- We have selected Mark Information’s solution because the company has a fabulous reputation. In my capacity as previous ERP consultant for nine years, I have met Mark Information in many places and I never heard a bad word about their solutions. That is quite unique. In addition to that, Mark Information has a standard integration to e.g. ASPECT4, which is maintained in every new version. This gives us the guarantee that we will not end up with a bespoke solution causing lots of problems.
To start with, Mark Information’s solution includes registration of production data as well as time & attendance for blue-collar workers with JAI. In the long term, even our salaried staff will be included. It is now required by law that salaried staff must register their absence and with the T&A solution, JAI is well prepared for the future even in this area.
